I have a feeling the staff at DC Kinkos voted for Hillary. During …

What went wrong at Jamie’s Italian?

Gorsuch sides with liberals as Supreme Court rules in favor of Native American rights in Wyoming hunting case

Washington (CNN)The US Supreme Court on Monday sided with a Wyoming Native American tribe, ruling that a 19th-century treaty between the tribe and the state did not expire when Wyoming became a state. In the majority opinion, Justice Sonia Sotomayor — joined by Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Elena Kagan and Gorsuch — wrote that an 1868 treaty between the Crow Tribe and the United States in which the tribe ceded most of its territory in modern-day Wyoming so its members would have a right to hunt on “unoccupied” parts of the land did not expire after Wyoming gained statehood. “There is also no evidence in the treaty itself that Congress intended the hunting right to expire at statehood, …

Court ruling undermines Trump’s congressional blockade

Washington (CNN)The judicial branch just delivered a sharp jab to the chin of President Donald Trump, in a foreboding omen for his strategy for thwarting investigations that threaten his presidency. Trump is appealing the decision, and long court battles loom — so Monday’s ruling was a setback in a much longer war, a factor that offers Trump a significant political advantage. And typically, his response signaled that he has no intention of backing down and will take each bout in his battle against Congress as far as he can, potentially to the Supreme Court. But Monday put down an early marker in the separation-of-powers feud between Congress and the White House and may hint at how other court battles between …

Democrats say some GOP members ‘twist’ Iran intel

Washington (CNN)As the Trump administration prepares to brief lawmakers Tuesday on the threat posed by Iran, Democrats are charging that Republicans are misrepresenting intelligence to make the danger from Tehran seem more dire than it actually is. The US has sent a Navy carrier strike group and bomber task force into the Persian Gulf as officials have warned of Iranian plans to attack US personnel. Tears, honesty and flirty games: how we escaped our married sex rut

After 15 years and three children, my husband and I found ourselves stuck in an intimacy impasse. Could a therapist help us sizzle again? Its usually when I have my head in the dishwasher that my husband will come up and say, Hey love, do you fancy a cuddle tonight? I dont know how, but somehow cuddle has, over the years, become the cute (but loaded) word for sex in our house. And I, often wanting just a cuddle one that doesnt involve an erection, merely a straight up, PG cuddle often simply clam up. We have a shared craving for closeness but opposing strategies to reach it. While Jim would happily shag his way to a chat, I want …

‘Women will die’: how new abortion bans will harm the most vulnerable

Women of color and poor women will be disproportionately affected by new restrictions across the US, opponents say On the floor of the Alabama state senate this week, a robotic voice read nine pages of legalese that would define a new reality for women in the state: abortion would be a crime, starting from the moment a woman knows she is pregnant. Doctors who perform the procedure could face up to 99 years in prison. Then senators names were called one by one, and they cast their votes. There were 25 yes votes, enough for the bill to pass easily. Every single one was cast by a white man. Those most hurt by the ban, by contrast, will be women …

What does the menopause do to the body?

But as women age and their store of eggs declines, ovulation, periods and pregnancies stop. And the body gradually stops producing oestrogen, which controls the whole process. This doesn’t happen overnight though. It can take several years for this crucial hormone to fall to low levels – and then it stays that way. Image copyright Getty Images Image caption Bones become weaker after the menopause, increasing the risk of osteoporosis When oestrogen production stops altogether, there is a long-term effect on the bones and heart. Bones can weaken, making fractures more likely, and women can become more vulnerable to heart disease and stroke. That’s why women are offered hormone replacement therapy, or HRT, which boosts oestrogen levels and helps to …

The Chinese-owned app does pose data risks but wrongly framing such fears can fuel racism and homophobia For years, American leaders claimed that the internet would bring free markets and liberal democracy to China. Today, they are more likely to express worry about how Chinese power and Chinese money are reshaping American tech. Conventional strategic areas, like artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, have received the most scrutiny. Old grudges, new weapons is the US on the brink of war with Iran?
